Many surf destinations around the world are located in third world countries where there are not many job opportunities for the locals outside of fishing. The “Create Your Future” Program introduces locals of surf destinations in third world countries to jobs and opportunities available in the creative space, such as photography, film making, writing, and graphic design. The young minds in the program will go on to be leaders and fund raise, by selling their unique work, for pressing issues in their respective communities, such as sanitation, health, or education. The “Create Your Future” program kicks off in 2012 with an emphasis on training young photographers-to-be in Libera, Peru, and Sri Lanka. Keep tabs on the program at www.surfresource.org.
