It is great to see the surf companies getting behind the movement of sustainable surf tourism… Billabong is really stepping it up with their “Life’s Better in Boardshorts” program, which they are advertising on the live webcast of the Billabong Pipe Masters (on now!). The program promotes their recycled boardshorts, gives a dollar to SurfAid International for every Instagram photo uploaded to their website, and gives you a chance to win some epic gear. Give it a look. Send a photo to support Surf Aid (how easy is that!?). And Win. Big thanks to Billabong for leading by exapmle.
Details from Billabong:
- By sharing your photo not only does your entry give you the opportunity to win great prizes but it’ll donate $1 dollar for Surfaid at no cost of your own. Our goal is 50,000 images to raise $50,000 for this great cause!
- Since 2007 Billabong has been making boardshorts from a material created from used plastic bottles. An estimated 50 million plastic bottles have been diverted from landfill into Billabong’s recycled boardshorts program which now equates to 65% of our current boardshort range. In the coming years Billabong is committed to extending this principle across our entire boardshort offering making it a 100% environmentally friendly product category.
- Everybody loves to have a win and with Life’s Better in Boardshorts we intend to give you the opportunity to do just that! Not only does your image send $1 to Surfaid but it places you in the draw win some cool stuff.
