Earlier this month was the biggest fundraising weekend in the surf industry, the Waterman’s Weekend, and Fernando Aguerre stole the show (as always) by wearing his awesome Liberian suit to the Waterman’s Ball to represent the 71st and newest member to the International Surfing Association: Liberia!
Following the Waterman’s Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, it was time for the main event of the 2012 SIMA Waterman’s Weekend, the 23rd annual Waterman’s Ball. The surf-industry’s annual gala event brought together nearly 680 of the sport’s top brass, celebrities, and surfers raising over $400,000 to support 20 environmental organizations and honor the late great Sean Collins with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Jean-Michel Cousteau, as Environmentalist of the Year, and last but not least, Shane Dorian, as this year’s Waterman of the Year.

A Huge THANK YOU goes out to David at “Third World Tailor” in Robertsport, Liberia for cranking out this beautiful suit in time for the event!
Another massive THANK YOU goes to Daniel Hopkins for picking out the fabric, making sure the suit was tailored to size, and for making it all happen!
Also, THANK YOU to Breton Carasso for carrying the suit home from Liberia!
Last but not least, we want to say THANK YOU to Fernando Aguerre for rocking that amazing, colorful Liberian suit as a conversation piece and THANK YOU to everyone at the ISA for all of the continued support!
You are all legends…
